This is a VERY significant developement in the war between brands and governments. And it is not only a victory of UK government, which is not only going to be allowed to snoop, but it WILL snoop. And, where apple crumbled, other brands will follow. And other 'democratic' governments WILL follow. Presumably, the threats against Apple were so serious they decided to throw in the towel. So what was it, presumably more than just a court case that would have dragged for years, more like, blocking Apple's access to UK market? We will never find out, because for that we'd need to have 'investigative journalism', right?

Apple has announced that its UK-based users can no longer enable Advanced Data Protection. The opt-in feature added end-to-end encryption to your iCloud backup, and users who switched it on will have to disable it  to continue using iCloud.
