Tesla doesn't seem to have a clue how these thieves operate. The first thing they do is take all the cables and burn them in giant barrels to burn off all of the plastic. This process would melt away and/or make illegible any of these "inscriptions". Second, buyers purchase this stuff in bulk, by the pickup truck full. No one is sorting it. You drive in, get weighed, dump, then get weighed on way out.

to turn in metal at a recycle facility in California you have to provide credentials and wait days for the process to clear . You don't roll up drop metal get money and leave hasn't worked like that since pge was losing miles of cable back 20 years ago. So this system would work just fine with the existing system

There's a simple solution. Make a locking cabinet on the sides for the cables.  You don't get access to the cable or plug unless you are authorized. They could deploy like bat wings and you retrieve the cable after your credentials are verified.

Thieves may still attack a charging car but there's a plethora of cameras and an alarm from both the car and charger would deter that.

Apparently they never been to a recycling company...it's straight put metal in bin for weight. No one is checking for writing. Even more so if someone is adding in other metals just looks like scrap or left over from salvage/construction.
