It could turn out to be another major marketing misstep by Oppo if competitors like Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi release new foldable phones with the 8-core Snapdragon Elite processor instead of the 7-core version later this year. Oppo made a similar mistake two years ago when they launched the Find N3 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 just days before the 8 Gen 3 was released.
A new Oppo Find N5 (aka OnePlus Open 2) Geekbench listing shows us how the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite variant fares against its 8-core counterpart. As expected, both chips fare similarly in single-core performance, and the difference is not anything to write home about in multi-core.
