When it comes to phones, real world performance is what matters most and with Apple being a in-house manufacturer of both their hardware and software they're able to achieve better optimization than Android based phones which is why iPhones have better real world performance than phones powered by Qualcomm and Media Tek.

It's about comparing the best each side has to offer at any given time. The 8 gen 4 is months away, it'll be early next year when we'll start to see flagships with it. When that arrives, there's gonna be a new comparison.

Snapdragon unveils processors first, then actual phones start coming out with it months later.

Apple unveils new chips at the moment they unveil their new phone so the A18/A18Pro have been complete probably since Q1/Q2 2024.

It's not ideal but it's  a fair comparison.

Apple's A18 Pro handily defeats all other smartphone SoCs to secure the first position in Geekerwan's smartphone SoC rankings, outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300. The A18 Pro leads in CPU performance, although its GPU performance leaves a lot to be desired.
