thank you David Chen for the thoughtful and compelling article detailing the danger looming around the dark corners in our minds. Im sure many people have been concerned about the imminent attack on the power grid. having your well experienced guidance is most reassuring.
as you noted the us government biden bought a bunch of generators that are like trojan horses, leaving our troops with the power it would need to access the internet , power mini fridges, and netflix is out as well. pornhub, likewise, a no go without power. thank god for intrepid journalist such as yourself or we may have fallen victim to the whimsey of sleepy joe
and his increasing number of pronouns.
regarding the $1000 generator you've suggested all real patriots need in order to survive the impending attack on our power grid, how much commission do you ,Mr. Chen, receive? And why would you, Mr. Chen, suggest that all good americans who want to survive the the attack should buy the generac Iq 3500 for $1000. I believe this is your pick because as a chinese man you have vested interest. also, is like to note that this generator is, like Mr. Chen,  made in China
you should bury your head in shame for being so dishonest. but i ll help you and spread the word. oh, and thank you as well google for putting this hot news story in my feed. no complicity there im sure, simple accident.

"Presidential" elections in any country are a circus for idiots. It is not they who rule, but their inner circle.

Answer yourself - which of you is well versed in the inner circle of Biden or Trump or Kennedy or someone else?

Morons blindly believe that they are choosing the head of state, but in reality they are choosing a huge team that may have completely opposite intentions than the façade clown "president" says and skillfully and harshly control the "head", as the Biden administration is doing right now in full view of everyone. or simply an organized mafia criminal group masquerading as the "state" and "government". It was approximately the same with Trump and all previous "presidents".

The institution of the clown "president" and his organized crime group must be destroyed in all countries, and responsibility must lie with the parliament. The composition of parliament should be renewed every 2 years to clean up identified monsters that have departed from election promises.

The same goes for all judges and prosecutors - at least once every 2 years.

The Supreme Court must be directly elected by referendum.

But kleptocracies in all countries have long understood how to skillfully and accurately (and, when necessary, use direct force) to manage herds of sheep.

(You seem to refer to Biden and Trump.)

The US people will elect either of them instead of some third candidate because the US election system is too favourable for the big parties. Why do these two parties choose such candidates with limited competence and high age? In the Republicans, the biggest market crier wins and is chosen for this very reason. In the Democrats, they lack courage to nominate young candidates with less charisma than JFK or Obama out of fear that then the market crier beats them. Still I wonder how these two big companies could have let things evolve to this state. It is the result of decades of deteriorating political culture.

The USA is not the first country with similar problems. There have been Russia, Italy, Hungary, Poland and others. Simplistic candidates in a world that is becoming too complex for too many.

Another fantastic order by the Biden administration. Ordering the immediate removal of all fuel burning power equipment our military uses before ensuring their is properly vetted replacements by vetted companies. In the past 8 years the US has become exceptionally vulnerable to foreign threats both domestically and foreign.
We need a President that has a grip on reality and these two same fools have no clue what they are doing.

I'll never understand why utility systems allow anything but a human to open and or close a switch,  valve ect...
You should be able to pay a bill or chef kindly put live data from a piece of equipment but NEVER and I mean NEVER give the internet the ability to operate the equipment.

Technically, there is nothing stopping a hostile state (or private group of individuals) from injecting malicious code into the battery pack controller's control firmware. If they have access to control commands over the Internet, nothing prevents them, at a certain moment, upon an external command, from causing a technical failure of such objects in a cascading manner.

You also need to take into account possible hidden mechanisms of artificial aging embedded in foreign battery packs.

In general, for critical infrastructure, controller firmware should be open source for full audit, and chips should be made in trusted factories.
And it's better that the batteries are also made in trusted factories, where all technical processes are fully controlled from start to finish.

Security and independence cost money. And they must be invested wisely and systematically, over the long term. And not when it's too late...

Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool and a pest to his society.

A simplistic FYI

ANY BESS MANUFACTURED FROM ANY COUNTRY INCLUDING THE US IS INCAPABLE OF CAUSING A CYBERSECURITY RISK.

HOW DOES THE ENERGY REACH THE UTILITY GRID? ONLY BY USING AN ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM THEREFORE THE SOLUTION IS TO USE ONLY USA MANUFACTURED OR ALLIED NATION EMS TO DISCHARGE THE ENERGY PROBLEM SOLVED!

The U.S. Department of Defense has proactively begun eliminating all Chinese battery energy storage system from use across all branches of the military, including the Navy, due foreign threat risks. China, Russia, and other countries have stepped up cyberattacks in recent years to disrupt the American and other power grids.
