Sony did not backpedal.  This was caused because Discovery merged with Warner Brothers.  The new company WBD is replacing their contracts (novation) that were previously on Discovery terms to more favorable term under WBD.

a lot of people said digital copy is better (than physical copy). because it's easy to get and to access, also it's more convenience, but that connivance come at price, which is- you don't own what you paid for. they can take it away whenever they wish, and second scenario: you will lose your copy once the server is shutdown.
