Sony should really implement their Spatial Room Correction into their car units that way they get into the same market as DIRAC the one thing car audio does poorly is implement DSP correction technologies. They have the means to do it given how insanely good this years ES line of AV receivers are. Every car company that has partnered w/ DIRAC for the automotive room correction has been insanely good in all of Vovlo's car lineup it actually sounds REALLY REALLY GOOD for a car audio system. Sony has the means and expertise to do it, but Japanese companies are really reclusive about steering into new markets unless other companies do it first.

I've been wondering for a while...how do these fit inside a car? There doesn't seem to be any room, do you pull something out to slot this in or...?

Sony has augmented its Mobile ES in-car audio line with a new AV receiver. The XAV-9000ES is the first double-DIN variant of its line, and also supports wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Its HD touchscreen can also switch between 3 different cameras in this generation as well as handle custom speaker configurations with an "enhanced" 5V 3-pre out. It has launched alongside 2 new power amplifiers for even more "High-Resolution Audio".
