"Mystery GeForce RTX 3060 variant with upgraded memory and GPU spotted online"

Mystery ? Really?

Sure, but the prices are bad! I check RTX 3080 prices daily and do not buy because they are ca. €270 above what I would currently pay. The typical German prices are still at least 110% of the initial MSRPs. These prices are so terrible that even the overpriced plus retailer-overpriced 4070TI looks like a "bargain".

QuoteThen again, it's hard to tell, given Nvidia's puzzling decision to relaunch a one-generation old GPU for no conceivable reason.

There are no bad products, only bad prices.

Why not continue to make these on Samsung 8N? It's good enough for most people and potentially even better with GDDR6X.

TechPowerUp's GPU database editor has stumbled upon a new GeForce RTX 3060 variant with GDDR6X memory and a GA104 GPU. Both are remarkable upgrades over the vanilla 3060, which uses a GA106 GPU and GDDR6 memory.
