LPDDR3 is cheap and inefficient compared to LPDDR4, moreover Comet Lake should support LPDDR4 now, or soon, yet they launched with LPDDR3 falling behind for a generation.
And not everybody who wants the good business laptops need vPro, for example the OLED screen isn't available even as an option on most Lenovos, what if you just want the good screen but have no use for vPro.

I would use the msi prestige 14 as a benchmark against these 2 new Lenovo models. I was thinking that the prestige would have been perfect if it had a convertible hinge and touch screen. Especially since it has dedicated graphics, and good thermal dissipation with high cpu performance, for the same weight.

IIRC X1 Yoga is Lenovo's most expensive business laptop, why are they cheaping out with Comet Lake and LPDDR3 in 2020??

A new year and a new ThinkPad X1 lineup. Lenovo has given the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga a Comet Lake U refresh, along with other treats for display and keyboard fans too. The X1 Carbon Gen 8 and X1 Yoga Gen 5 will be available worldwide from US$1,499 and US$1,599.
