Saying the situation is not as bleak as it appears is the understatement of the year, there is no way this is sustainable in any way - and there's no scenario where these AI companies magically turn a profit without heavy (and unsustainable) investments from other heavily-indebted companies.

They are literally burning investment and borrowed cash just to keep the shop open.

I'm not sure what growth anyone should focus on, it's not sustainable in any way.

AI company Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026. While AI is gradually beginning to generate revenue elsewhere in the industry, Anthropic's reported net loss surged from $13 billion in the same period last year to $80.7 billion. However, a large portion of the loss is attributable to accounting revaluations.
