To be a Citizen means to have political rights, freedoms, and obligations which allow Demos (the electorate) to steer and control the fate of their society. Most of countries do not qualify under this definition, including the west which have replaced Democracy with Plutocracy. So no, Consumers are not Citizens.
If it doesn't run Linux, its usefulness is frankly almost zero for a lot of people. It could take years before Asahi Linux runs on the M6, because they're still struggling to get the M3 functional. Meanwhile Apple will soon begin doing what Motorola does, requiring an ID to prove you are not a child or else they will limit your device.
For anyone who wants to use his computer as he pleases e.g. install Linux, and wants to have upgradability and repairability options all Apple products are dead fish in the water.
Apple epitomizes the corporate-lock in to the maximum!
The M6 SoC is Apple's first 2 nm chip for Macs and also the new entry-level chip. Apple managed to improve the performance as well as the efficiency and pretty much destroys the direct competition from AMD, Intel and Qualcomm.
