WhatsApp raises its minimum requirement to Android 6 on Sept. 8, 2026. The phones it affects cannot upgrade, so their owners need new hardware. A second date on the same help page has been missing from coverage of the Android cutoff. From Nov. 30, iPhones need iOS 15.5, and there an update is enough.
