so I am a somewhat frustrated owner of a strix Halo machine and under Windows. I can really only dedicate 64 GB of memory to video RAM or llm workloads. perhaps this new setting will give me a way to get 96 GB or more for those workloads, without me having to switch to Linux or something.
Microsoft is testing a new Windows 11 feature that lets users reserve portions of unified memory for graphics and AI workloads. It could be especially useful on systems such as AMD Strix Halo and Nvidia RTX Spark, where very large shared-memory pools can already be allocated to the integrated GPU.
