Quoteand a single SODIMM slot for up to 72 GB of DDR5 RAM when accounting for its 8 GB of soldered memory.
What a stinky limitation. How is dual-channel even supposed to work normally, if it's not split equally (it's 64 bit per channel).

It may depend on the platform, but a Framework goes up to 128 GB or even the full 256 GB RAM (on AMD, starting from Ryzen 7840).

Although it is less modular, it's way more sensible and doesn't come with a 'hipster tax' added on. It also has lots of cool features like automatic battery disconnect when taking off the bottom panel, replaceable motherboard and so on. Also, Schenker said the successor is already "firmly planned", which is cool. Hopefully with Nova Lake there will be a 12Xe variant as well. Sadly, the future of the platform depends on the success of this model, as stated, and I'm afraid many will be offput by the lack of stronger iGPU options.

A new 16-inch laptop has arrived globally. Featuring Intel Panther Lake processors, the Schenker Element 16 also includes a 120 Hz display, up to 72 GB RAM, and a 72 Wh battery rated to last 12 hours in official battery life tests. Schenker's new 16-inch laptop weighs less than 2 kg, too.
