Playstation is a subsidiary with a lot of independence, so I don't see it as an issue. Different subsidiaries also don't necessarily share the same values/ideas.....if anything it's usually the opposite and they can clash as a result.
Companies aren't monoliths, they're not a single mind. Unfair to drag other Sony departments for Playstation's move especially when clearly those department support physical media. Be upset sure, but be upset with the right one.
Sony plans to reduce PS5 disc production in 2028, but still manufactures vinyl record players. A social media post about a turntable irked gamers already upset over the decision. They claim that, like with music, demand for the physical game format will continue for the foreseeable future.
