I get the physical disc thing from a profit and business perspective. Young users will not be bothered. However I have an 18 year old loves a physical purchase. Also object permenance for people is a reason for physical. Also are Sony going to release a PS6 with a lot more memory for digital gaming as the cost of memory expansion is ridiculous and the current offering is not enough.

Quote from: Key on July 08, 2026, 07:10:47Problem with this is they are already stealing from us, calling our purchases "liscences" and now they are stealing from us physically, nobody wants anything to do with Sony anymore, because it's doing nothing for us by money grubbing our money away, if there is no trust, there is no reason for anyone to purchase, you fail as merchants, this is the price of your failures

You do realize that none of that is stealing, correct?
Your purchases ARE licenses, it's been that way forever.  Even on Open source/Linux Distributions you agree to licensing.

Do you not realize you have, and continue to have, a choice in the manner of where you put your money?  Nobody is taking it without your consent.  If you're upset at Sony, were you upset at Valve in the early 2000s?

Failure of merchants?  You and a very, very small group of gamers will continue to buy games digitally, and then complain online about it.  This is a failure of merchants?

Tell us where and how you will play games/buy software moving forward?

No, to use cloud saving. Which is Sony storing your saves so you can use them on a different Playstation if you log into it.

I've been with PSN since buying my first console a PS3 on launch day, to now with a PS4 and the announcement of going digital only has killed it for me. Looks like I'll be building a nifty little Steam machine and leaving the PSN family.

Facing criticism over a shift to digital games, Sony has made an overture to discontented supporters. Gamers threatening to cancel subscriptions may receive a PlayStation Plus price cut. Some PS Plus Extra and Premium members have secured 3-12 months of service at steep discounts.
