Saw a comment posted elsewhere that this is really a local LLM card that looks like a graphics card. The 12gb apparently is just big enough to run small models locally. Makes more sense in that context.

It appears that the RTX 3060 is once again available to buy in the US, featuring a $329 price tag and a two-generation old specifications. Just for context, entry-level variants of the much more powerful RTX 5060 8 GB cost just around $20 more.
