Pixel 9 user here since around two years. Always installed updates on day 1 and never had any of the issues promptly reported on reddit and news sites the day after the release. Since I'm not a particularly lucky individual, I think these kind of issues are quite normal (sadly) after a major software update and do not affect everyone. I want it to state it out because I was worried too when I first bought the device, but I do not think Google has a particularly worse QC than other brands. Other non Google devices have them too, iphones included. Pixel phones maybe get a bit more attention (as it should be, dont get me wrong). That said, I do hope it gets better and this issues not come again next wave of updates.
Pixel owners are reporting touchscreen problems following the update to Android 17, including brief freezes and reversed scrolling gestures. Google has acknowledged the issue but has not yet released a fix, leaving users with unreliable workarounds and recommendations to delay updating where possible.
