I'd be happy if I could really save manually (and not only auto-save) in so-called modern RPGs and it's all because of consolitis. I can't go back to previous "chapter" in Stray at all without replaying it all. I lost hour(s?) because auto-save in Plague Tale: Innocence put my companion NPC in unmoveable position at the end of the chapter, co I can only start the chapter from the beginning. Good times when manual saving (especially in any moment) was normal.
In Gothic Remake, forgetting to save can quickly cost players several hours of progress. One Reddit user recently had to learn that the hard way – and was met mostly with schadenfreude from the community. A simple habit can prevent the same mistake.
