Quoteray tracing won't tempt many buyers.
Correct, the PS6 needs to improve its path tracing (some call it full ray tracing) performance, as pt is actually visually transforming, unlike ray tracing. Increase the path tracing energy efficiency by 2 times (I guessly predict that this not gonna happen for the PS6).
Since RDNA4 is 50% behind NVIDIA RTX 40 and RTX 50 series in path tracing power efficiency / FPS per Watt¹ (both, RTX 40 and 50 series, have the same power efficiency -- unfortunately RTX 50 series didn't improve in power efficiency), AMD would need to improve their path tracing FPS/Watt performance by at the very least like 3 times in the PS6 APU.

¹ pcgameshardware.de/Geforce-RTX-4090-Grafikkarte-279170/Tests/-1489086/4/:
Cyberpunk 2077 "Overdrive" preset:
Geforce RTX 5070 Ti (300 Watt TDP): 25.6 FPS (0.0853 FPS/Watt)
Radeon RX 9070 XT (304 Watt TDP): 16.7 FPS (0.0549 FPS/Watt)
Radeon RX 7900 XTX (355 Watt TDP): 14.0 FPS (0.0394 FPS/Watt)
0.0853 / 0.0549 = 1.55 times -> The 5070 Ti is 55% more power efficient in path racing than the 9070 XT.

Regarding the switch 2, might be sorta struggling in US but worldwide sales are still above where switch 1 was at same point in time, which is like the 2nd best selling console in history. So I don't think it's doing too bad.

According to Tom @ MLID, he thinks Sony will be more aggressive in pricing (despite there being almost no competition for them from Xbox) because they had a real problem this gen with many PS4 users refusing to migrate to PS5, and don't wish to repeat that again. That even though it's being released in future it's being designed during today's market and economic challenges. So it'll attempt to aim or address them.

We'll see I guess. Needs to be taken with a copious amount of grain considering how much of a Sony pony and massive AMD fan he is. :p

Personally more interested in the improvements to upscaling that RDNA5 will bring for upcoming handhelds than any PT/RT.

Forget RT. The average American household doesn't have the liquidity to cover $1000 in emergency expenses. How are those people going to afford a likely $800 console? The Switch 2 launched at $450 and sold way below expectations.

Given that an RTX 5090 even struggles with pathtracing at high resolutions/framerates without heavy upscaling/frame gen, I don't see the PS6 even entertaining it. Maybe the PS7. Lol

With a potentially high PS6 price, there are concerns that the console will struggle. The Alderon Games founder thinks improvements in ray tracing won't tempt many buyers. Sony could find more success converting PS4 owners who have been waiting for a substantial upgrade.
