That's a weird choice considering macbooks only get 7 years of major updates, then you are out of luck. Unlike the old intel ones you can't just force the next version and you are stuck.

Dell and Microsoft lost me to Apple (MacBook Pro M4 Pro) when I learned they were bricking my beloved Dell XPS 15 9560 of seven years.  I suspect there are many others like me out there.

A new Dell XPS 13 is coming. Billed as much cheaper than Dell's current Snapdragon X and Lunar Lake options, the next XPS 13 is also said to be the thinnest and lightest yet, while moving away from Dell's divisive capacitive touch function row too.
