every compact tablet will be now the same size with 8.8", no differences, no 7.5" or 8" or 8.4" or anything that stands out. i hate this boring ignorance and uniformity.

It's because the compact tablet market is tiny, so the tablet manufacturer have to buy what the screen manufacturer have for sale.
Bigger company like Nintendo could get custom screen since they are also making only 1 form factor.
Why do you think it's all 8.8...

Don't be so pessimistic. While it's true we no longer have 7" tablets, those 7" tablets from a decade ago had absolutely massive bezels.

So I would say in terms of overall size, if you can find something 8.8" with almost no bezels that it is similar to something 8.4" with big bezels.

Now turn that frown, upside down! (:

Oppo is reportedly working on a compact flagship tablet that will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Per Digital Chat Station, a reliable tipster, the pad will sport an 8.8-inch OLED display, and it could be rebranded as a OnePlus tab later.
