All of this innovation means little if Dolby doesn't address the elephant in the room; the fragmented profile system with tiers like profile 4, 5, 7, 8... this confusion and handcuffs alienates HT enthusiasts and complicates adoption across devices and content.

Even more critical, Dolby's core revenue driver... physical media like 4k UHD Blu-ray medium/players... is rapidly declining. If Dolby fails to adapt to streaming devices with all its profile tiers future, especially p7, and doesn't unify or simplify its ecosystem soon, these advancements in DV 2 risk becoming irrelevant for the very audience that once championed DV in our homes.

Without a clear, accessible, and future-proof strategy, technical improvements alone won't sustain engagement or adoption in the long term.

With the second version of the Dolby Vision standard,  the company is looking to fix all previous HDR problems and also introduce new features like the Content Intelligence suite powered by AI algorithms, an improved bi-directional tone-mapping method and a motion processing technique called Authentic Motion, which reduces stuttering without introducing the soap opera effect.
