So what recourse does a buyer have that buys a device they were not aware was stolen? What if the seller knowingly sells a drone/controller that they stole?
This really kills the second hand market for those that can't buy new. Myself included. I'm running into this issue right now. I bought a controller off ebay and it appears to be bound. I don't know if the seller KNEW it was bound, but it wasn't mentioned in the ad..
I don't think this helps prevent "stolen" devices at all. I think it screws second hand buyers in the ol wazoo.. and attempts to force people to buy new.
Also for record purposes too. You can't record and post it if it isn't linked to your account. Dji fpv controller can pair to any dji fpv drone. Who wants a bunch of controllers when you can have one that can fly all. But it has to be unbound for this.
I feel like this is a non issue. Wouldn't nearly all DJI drones be bound to the controller that they come with? And when reselling the drone, wouldn't most DJI owners be selling said bound controller with that drone? Unless you are using an upgraded controller I feel like this would really only be an issue for DIY drone kits.
DJI is changing its terms and conditions. Buyers of such drones should be aware of these changes: in the worst case scenario, they could end up buying expensive electronic waste. This is particularly relevant for second-hand drones.
