I mean, not disagreeing with previous comments in regards to scratching of the mentioned glass, but they are clearly saying nothing about scratch-resistance but instead about being tougher for multiple and repetitive (!) drops. I would rather have a rare small scratch here and there than a completely shattered glass.

Yeah, every year it becomes "tougher", but in reality scratches by just cloth in the pocket..

I can see it now on JerryRigEverything "Light scratches appear at level 6, with deeper grooves at level 7".

Let's not forget last year's Gorilla glass was softer than the year's before, with the previous gen only showing light scratches at level 7.

Corning has announced Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a new, tougher glass for use in smartphones. The durable glass can survive repeated drops from 3.3 feet (1.0 meter) onto concrete.
