The worst thing about Microsoft is that it doesn't offer the AMD chip option, as it would sell much more. AMD has proven over the last three years to be far ahead of Intel with its new APUs, as it has the best iGPUs on the market, which Intel has yet to surpass. AMD has the best CPU performance with the lowest power consumption in products like the Surface. All this is said in professional forums, but Microsoft still doesn't listen to users.
IMHO: This is merely Microsoft flexing its Monopoly mussels in attempts to kick its x86 partners to maybe come up with some real innovation that does not merely involve shrinking transistor's so that they can squeeze more of them into a package.
Process improvement points go to TSMC, NOT Intel or AMD.
Our review of the Surface Laptop with Intel's Lunar Lake clearly shows that it's the better device overall. Instead of pushing Windows on ARM at the expense of customers, Microsoft should offer both versions and let buyers choose.
