Xiaomi gives excellent hardware for the price but they've always been shitty in the software front. Currently running Pixel Experience+ on my Mi 10T Pro on Android 12 and it's safe to say I'll get Android 13 and 14 too. It's just a shame that we would need to resort to unlocking the bootloader and running on custom ROMs to get that excellent support that we should already be getting when we bought the device. To be fair, Samsung and other Android players have gotten better on this but with Xiaomi releasing god knows how many phones a year it's not at all surprising. MIUI is a shitshow in of itself too. They should really get their act together.
And I know people running on custom ROMs is less than 1% of smartphone users which makes it even more saddening that you'd need to do that to get more out of your Xiaomi device. I love tinkering as much as the next guy, but if support is what you want, for most people, saving up to getting a Samsung flagship is the only way to go.
