The only people pushing Dlss for #Switch2 are the same #PumpAndDump leakers who told us all about the #SwitchPro... Which obviously never happened. There has been no internal communication from Nintendo to manufacturing partners over a signed deal.

There has been a flood of games now confirmed for OG Switch and a release schedule leading into 2025.

Conclusion? Nintendo hasn't made a decision and is listening to the open feedback telling Nintendo to treat $nvda like the criminal organization with mafia and cartel strategies everyone else in the computing industry is now openly talking about.

This does not mean AMD is still in the running. Reports suggest Nintendo's aggressive takedown of Yuzu came after AMD engineers used Yuzu to run OG Switch games at 1920x1080@120hz with a multi hour battery life. Apparently Nintendo didn't take kindly to bring shown just how outclassed the OG Switch is in relation to modern hardware, or that pc platforms offered a better play experience than native hardware.

Well, what Nintendo takes kindly too and what market reality is are two different things. AMD giving Nintendo engineers the equivalent of smelling salts is likely what Nintendo really needed.

The gaming press not bought off by Nvidia should probably also hold Nintendo's feet to the fire on this one and loudly insist Nvidia is a dead end optoo.

Simple solution: just make the docking station usefull by adding a cooler, a gpu and a cpu in it. Make it big if u want just get more power while docked. If it s not well what do you expect from a mobile device...

Here's all the Switch 2 has to do to keep up:

  • Play any games ported to it in handheld mode at 720p30 (or up to 1080p30 if they pick a better screen)
  • Clock higher and aggressively upscale when docked to reach the higher FPS and resolutions. It can get to 4K using DLSS even if it's terrible.
  • Ship with 12 GB of RAM

Based on what we've heard so far, it can probably compare well enough to the Xbox Series S (which uses about 60-90W during gameplay, not 150-200W).

Console gaming will largely be held back by the Xbox Series S for years to come, which is good for the Switch 2.

DUH. Did anyone seriously expect it to keep up with non-mobile devices? Come on now.

Considering that those consoles will have been out for nearly 5 years by the time the Switch 2 is released and there are rumours of them getting mid-generation refreshes as well, expecting it to be closer to them than the weaker Series S level when docked doesn't seem like it should be that unrealistic an expectation.

According to a new report, the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to outperform the Steam Deck in handheld mode and may even get close to the Xbox Series S in docked mode. Allegedly, Nintendo will resort to NVIDIA's bag of software tricks to get its next console closer to the performance of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
