On Amazon one can buy: "HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Desktop Mini Business PC, Intel Quad-Core i5-6500T up to 3.1G,16GB DDR4,240G SSD,VGA,DP,Win 10 Pro".  This is a Quad core, 3GHz CPU, 16 Megabytes of memory, a SSD disc, Windows 10 Pro installed, a keyboard and a mouse for $108.00.  This is a SIGNIFICANTLY better X86 system for SIGNIFICANTLY lower cost.

Grouch0, there are hardly any 32-bit x86 CPU out there. Maybe except for DM&P, all other manufacturers have 64-bit CPUs, even VIA.

I would prefer a clearer distinction between X86 or X64 processor.

"... not entirely umproblematic"? Why not be more direct?

A Raspberry Pi is now too mainstream, too expensive, too underpowered, too complicated, too bare without a heatsink and case? Raise the curtain on the Zimaboard, an all-in-one alternative with two LAN and SATA ports and even a PCIe slot, fully configurable, with a stronger X86 instead of an ARM processor and almost unlimited expandability. With this, it wants to conquer the maker, DIY and consumer hearts.
