Quote from: al ex on December 26, 2023, 04:09:13Talking about 16GB/s and later talking about the speed depending on the implementation is pretty confusing.

Fact is: OCulink offers 4 lanes of PCIe and the standard at which it operates is flexible.
With 5.0 the speed is about 4x what thunderbolt 4 offers for PCIe devices.
OCulink supports "up to" 16 GB/s. The implementation is important as earlier Dell XPSs with Thunderbolt only offered 20 Gbps throughput although the standard itself can go up to 40 Gb/s. Implementation varies depending on a host of considerations including but not limited to power specs of the device, cable length, possible electromagnetic interference (as in the case of the GPD Win Max 2) etc.

Lenovo is apparently planning a refresh to the ThinkBook series next year with Intel Meteor Lake processors. The ThinkBook series will be comprised of the ThinkBook 14p, ThinkBook 16p, and the ThinkBook 13x convertible alongside a ThinkBook Plus Android tablet. The ThinkBook 14p is particularly interesting as it is touted to feature an OCulink port that offers a much faster connection to eGPUs over Thunderbolt 4.
