WE DON'T NEED ANY FASTER INTERNET ITS POINTLESS AT THIS POINT!!!!

We live 45 miles north of Pittsburgh and have to get 2 Amy  lines, each providing less than 3.5 Mbps. One has been broken for 3 months and if we get it fixed, they will give us only 1.5 Mbps.

Starlinks collision avoidance has been proven, it's also in much lower orbit than other commercial satellite offerings by orders of magnitude.

As to your comment about internet speed, that's just not correct.  While your internet may be fast enough for what you use it for now, many locations/people do not have access to high speed that starlink can provide.  I was stuck on a fixed wireless provide for a decade without adequate speed, unable to work from home, stream video, etc.

As technology changes the need for more bandwidth will grow.  Not planning for the future is a death knell for any technology company and a waste of capital expenditure  on "good enough" infrastructure.

Although your all caps post makes think you were intentionally trolling anyway.

Have a good one

Yes you do not need. But we need many people like me who live in Iran.
We always have to buy internet and filter breaker with low speed

Your comment is laughable. Internet speed isn't fast enough already. It may be fast enough where you live, but try to open your eyes and look around. There's people that live in rural America. There are people that live in the country that are miles from the nearest fire hydrant and Starbucks. I have friends that have DSL that are lucky if they can get 3 Mbps download speed and the upload speed is 0.5. Mbps. You can't stream, you can barely surf the internet. You can't work from home. Video chat with loved ones is impossible. What about people in Africa, do you think they have high speed internet running out into the Serengeti? Antarctic The Outback? The only Outback you think is the steakhouse. What about remote outpost in other countries you have never heard of. You can't run cable or fiber to all of these locations because, well, you can't. You can't because there's no people. It's not cost effective to run 20 miles of cable or 200 miles for 1 house. 1 satellite cab cover thousands of houses. Children can learn, play, families can watch TV and connect with loved ones across the globe.

I wonder if there will be so much space junk that all ICBMs that rely on Satellite connectivity will fail, rendering nuclear missiles effectiveness moot.

A hippy can dream!😆

Starlink is a lifesaver for firefighters fighting forest fires like those in California and remote areas of Canada. It's a lifesaver for emergency personnel trying to find people hiking in mountainous areas and providing the only information and education to poverty-stricken regions across the globe.  It was crucial in helping Ukraine in the murderous incursion from Russia. All progress has its downsides.

Starlink isn't necessarily meant to replace internet for people who already have access to, at least, decent Internet. Starlink was mainly meant for remote or travelling people. So no, Internet speeds aren't fast enough at this point. You're making a very generalized statement based on your very specific experience.

Will starlink sell to anyone who will buy? Of course, they are a business. Should everybody go and buy starlink? No, some people don't need it. But some people do.

Enjoy your boycott of Costco.

Faced with increasing Starlink satellite Internet bandwidth demand, SpaceX is reportedly looking to expand its network of data centers. To do so, it may have partnered with Cloudflare to increase network speeds.
