Post by: Redaktion on December 16, 2020, 20:58:22
Many details about the Surface Pro 8 have already been revealed, and now memory configurations can be added to the list. Microsoft's next 2-in-1 will support LTE connectivity too, rather than the newer 5G standard.

The big question for me is still Thunderbolt.   Its built into tigerlake.   Not implementing it again makes the surface a non starter for me as it is today

Why do they always limit the LTE version to I5 versions? So if you want I7 with LTE.....no way.

Because the percentage of people who buy their laptops with WWAN are almost insignificantly small compared to the high price of modem installation so limiting it to a single SKU reduces manufacturing costs. Other brands' laptops with LTE/5G are exactly the same.

No 4800U or 5800U means big no from me. Thay had a chance with it.
Maybe if they come with 4K oled screen I can rethink, no cloud ryzen9/i9 option for now so offline performance matters.

"high price of modem installation"...lol, I bet it costs $10 wholesale, $15 tops, moreover it's probably one of those add-on cards that you could've plugged in yourself, had they properly used slots instead of soldering everything down.
