Tipster @momomo_us recently shared details of what appears to be an upcoming Intel Ice Lake Xeon SP model. The part in question features 40 cores, running at 2.4 GHz, with a 270W TDP. @momomo_us further confirmed that lower-tier models would be available with 32-36 cores and lower power demands.

This does not look competitive and its sad because its going to take a monumental effort for Intel to catch up as AMD have a solid foundation and seem to have lots of ideas about how to keep improving. Intel don't just face that headwind, they also face all the ARM64 server parts coming into the market which make this part look ridiculous.
