Title: Scathing Metacritic user reviews and #GameFreakLied dull the shine of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield's release
Post by: Redaktion on November 16, 2019, 02:28:05
The first user reviews for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield have started being posted on Metacritic and it's not looking good for the latest installments in the beloved franchise. At the time of writing, the user score stood at 3.5 for Sword and 3.4 for Shield. Discontent has already been visible on Twitter thanks to the trending hashtag #GameFreakLied.

A small amount of people seem to be very vocal about this, even resorting to review bombing. Meanwhile all others, that is, the largest part of the audience, is happily enjoying the game and coulnd't care less if the game "only" has 400 Pokémon... I mean, I really liked the first game too, and it had only 150 Pokémon and greyscale graphics with rather severe lack of detail...

Personally, after a full day of playing, I think Sword & Shield is a fantastic mix of old and new that nails the right Pokémon game feeling while having some really interesting new additions like the open Wild Area. Don't believe the naysayers, try it yourself and you'll probably find you'll like it.

A logical person might just go for the simplest conclusion here: Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield failed to deliver what hardcore fans wanted. Whereas critics are being paid to shill and will say anything to continue getting games ahead of release so as not to hurt their clicks, gamers have no need to be so measured in their reviews. Browsing through the damning comments, it becomes clear to see that the biggest issues are the short story, a "rushed" feel to the games, substandard graphics, and crippling bugs (deletion of saved data). All of those problems and that's without even mentioning the cut cast of characters.

wew lad, fixed that for you

Big-a** generalization there. Are you just doing the shilling for free? ;)
