5G adoption should explode in 2019 and MediaTek is ready to capitalize on it both with standalone 5G modems and 5G-enabled SoCs. The taiwanese company would supply big names like Apple with standalone chips, while Chinese phone-makers would benefit from 5G-enabled mid-range SoCs that will help reduce the integration costs.
