News / Leaked Fujifilm X-T50 film sim...
Last post by Redaktion - Today at 02:10:42
Based on recent leaks, Fujifilm seems to be replacing the drive dial on the X-T50 compact entry-level camera with a customisable film simulation dial. While this seems to have stirred up some ire online, it seems to be a way to differentiate the X-T50 from the likes of the X-S20 without hurting sales of either.

Quote from: TLS on Yesterday at 11:11:20CopprLink isn't for consumer applications.

Well err... no.

As long as we have the 'Big Three' (or more) dictating how computers and their parts are interconnected consumers (and the commercial space) will be subject to their whim's. (along with their patents covering the connections)

While not needed there, the desktop space is the 1st logical choice for a optical addin card that bundles 8-16 lanes of PCIe into a decently long optical connection that could terminate at a box housing from a single to a number of high performance devices along with a power supply.

Laptop OEM's have offered 'high performance docking' solutions in the past. However the offerings were generally rather more comical then useful as the cost/performance ratio along with the very limited use cases for them were more of a joke then an actual 'trend setting' product offering.

USB4/TB with eGPU or eSSD currently has a rather limited market.

Quote from: Justin on Yesterday at 13:41:17I'm all for innovation in this space, but even Oculink hasn't been warmly welcomed by the big vendors, when I see a dell, hp, lenovo, Asus or MSI device that supports Oculink or copprlink then these connectors become mainstream, otherwise they will end up as expensive and very niche products

You are thinking of consumer applications. These are for servers where they are more popular, just oculink was moved to the consumer market cause of the need for a license free thunderbolt to bring down cost. It is also probably the reason why thunderbolt 3 became part of USB4 to block entry from competition

Quote from: Nun ubusiness on April 26, 2024, 13:04:40EVs are no where near clean. The power grid is 33 percent efficient. A modern diesel is more efficient before you even plug in your EV. There's no surplus renewable power so any extra load on the grid comes from fossil fuels. Educate yourself instead of letting the media brainwash you.

Clean is a relative word. It is only clean relative to ICE

You also seem to be confused about efficiency, when you say the grid is 33% efficient, you are talking about the average efficiency of the fossil fuels on the grid (ignoring the 40% that is non-fossil fuel). You are then cross comparing it to the best diesel engines at PEAK efficiency, not their average efficiency

Of course even that fossil fuel 33% is based on outdated data. As the years go, older less efficient coal plants get decommissioned

In US average NG plant is 44% efficient and average coal plant is 32% efficient

In 2023, coal made up 16.2% and NG made up 43.1%, so average grid efficiency for fossil fuel is closer to 40%

Note, the efficiency number is based on 2022 data, so with more older plants going offline the average efficiency is also higher in 2024. Also the electricity data is also from 2023, and more coal plants closed since as coal is projected to go down to 15% or lower

Quote from: LifePo7 on Yesterday at 21:21:34Less than 1GWh a year is very little..

BYD's sodium battery plant will have 30GWh of production capacity

BYD has the advantage of being their own supplier. That means if others don't buy it, BYD will use it in their own products. In comparison, Natron has to find clients

On top of that, Natron is reusing the same equipment and factory that was before used for lithium ion batteries which lets them put up the factory quicker and cheaper. Aka, low hanging fruit with high ROI

If it works out well, they can always scale after

Quote from: Irgendjemand on Yesterday at 15:32:28Wäre nicht der LOQ 16APH8 dann sogar der bessere Deal?

QuoteVolkswagen has announced that the Pro S version of the ID.3 electric car can get from 0 to 62 miles per hour (mph) thanks to a more powerful motor.

I think you mean o to 62 mph in 7.1 seconds...  Otherwise, you are saying it maxes out at 62MPH.
