PSA to consumers: Don't pre-order the 2017 Spectre x360 15t.

The display in the 2016 version of the Spectre x360 15 used an RG/BW Pentile matrix to cheat the ability to advertise the 4K Ultra HD 3840x2160 resolution, without actually providing the full detail of the resolution.

Don't preorder it, and don't buy it until it can be confirmed that HP is using a 100% honest true 4K display in the new model.

------

To Notebookcheck staff: When you review the model, I think it would be great if you would properly cover this issue. I've noticed that, in a lot of your later reviews, you've been including photos of the subpixel matrix, which is important, but you haven't always described it correctly, particularly in this one: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ZenBook-Pro-UX501VW-Notebook-Review.158762.0.html

RG/BW Pentile isn't a technology to achieve higher resolutions at lower cost or with fewer dots. RG/BW Pentile doesn't improve color accuracy with its white dot. RG/BW Pentile is a way of cheating the ability to advertise high resolutions, without actually providing the full detail of the resolutions.

If HP is using a false 4K pentile display in this model, I think you should cover the following points
- It's not true 4K
- A 3K 2880x1620 or QHD+ 3200x1800 display would have been a better cost saving measure than a false-4K.

If HP is using a true 4K display, I think you should praise it for doing so, and distance it from the ones that don't.

Their review which just came out states that it's an RGB subpixel layout, which is great.
