Modular Framework Laptop 13 now comes with newest AMD Ryzen 7040U "Phoenix" APUs

Framework, the company known for making highly modular laptops, has announced that the company's Laptop 13 can now be equipped with the Ryzen 7040U APUs. The APUs feature a Zen 4 CPU and an RDNA 3 Radeon 760M/780M iGPU with 8/12 CUs.

I don't know why they don't offer a keyboard with a "pointing stick." A lot of Thinkpad people would be all over this concept. Though, the Framework laptops are from what I hear a bit clunkier than a top Thinkpad, the options, upgrade & service stream is appealing.

Because:

1) No one uses that thing anymore, aside from very few special cases (eg: people working in really hard environments and using gloves)

2) Lenovo has a patent regarding pointing sticks. Dell & HP had their own implementation, but it wasnt as good from what I heard.

And like I mentioned before, it would be a huge waste of time/resources for a company like Framework. Just grab a Thinkpad Keyboard  II and be done with it as a solution.

You are misinformed on both counts. The Trackpoint is still popular among thinkpad loyalists like myself whose muscle memory is so programmed that it is the only thing keeping me to the atrocious new Lenovo. For those who know how to use it, it is more accurate and necessary in space constrained use like when I'm flying in economy class.

And the Trackpoint IV patent is 25 years old and has expired and in the public domain. I can't post links without registering, but it is patent US6115030
