ThinkPads are only overpriced if you're not interested in what they offer that other laptops (outside of comparable brands like Dell Precision or HP EliteBook, which cost the same if not more) don't. Just as gaming laptops are massively overpriced if you're looking for a web browsing pc or anything where durability is required.

Lenovo has released many ThinkPad laptops in this year already, but no models with AMD Ryzen so far. This apparently changes soon, as the new models ThinkPad A285 and A485 have been listed on the Lenovo website for the first time.
