Great article. It's impressive that after 13 years there is still no other game which allows the player to destroy so much stuff like the houses, trees. In my humble opinion this was the last true groundbreaking PC game to be released. The fact that the graphics are still commendable to this day and comparable to the games being released now says that the industry is a little stagnant in this respect. GPUs are faster and faster and for what? I don't see the developers truly taking advantage of all that power. Just look at Doom Eternal FPS.

To all the people shaking their heads in disbelief ("the only feature of this remaster is that the game now runs like sh*t"):
a decade of stangnation, wasted opportunity, and marginalization of computer sciences got us here. Don't you dare point your finger at Crytek, or any other company (come back to this post when Mass Effect: RE hits). You, dear reader, you voted for this with your wallet - every flight of the stairs down. Shame on US.
