Title: GPD Win Max 2 Core i7-1260P vs. Ryzen 7 6800U benchmarks: AMD is the superior choice for gaming
Post by: Redaktion on July 10, 2022, 21:16:20
For handheld 720p gaming, the new integrated Radeon 680M can outperform the Iris Xe by wide margins even though GPD is charging the same price for either option.

I thought R7 was cheaper than i7.

eGPU should work on the Ryzen 6800U per the specs on indiegogo "e-GPU support (AMD via USB 4, Intel via TB4)". I have seen two videos of eGPU's running with the 6800U over USB4.

I wouldn't count out Thunderbolt devices on 6800U. Thunderbolt 3 devices were tested and confirmed to be working.

Please correct the statement:

Connecting Thunderbolt-specific docks, such as eGPUs, will not be possible on the AMD version.

eGPU support (AMD via USB 4, Intel via TB4)

AMD users, behold! The AMD version of WIN Max 2 has a USB4 port supporting up to 40Gbps transfer rate. The USB4 interface natively supports the Thunderbolt 3 protocol, so now you can play games with the AMD version of WIN Max 2 connected to a Thunderbolt 3 eGPU!

The Intel version of WIN Max 2 has a built-in Thunderbolt 4 port which can be used to connect to a more efficient Thunderbolt 4 eGPU!

eGPU support over USB4 will work, as MSFT dictates that all oems supporting USB4 with W11 must support PCIe tunneling.

There are a couple of youtube videos that demonstrate this if you search for GPD Win Max 2 reviews, one such example being from ETAPrime.
