Title: Tesla to make the cheapest EV batteries with billions in annual government subsidies
Post by: Redaktion on February 07, 2023, 14:45:22
After mastering the EV production cost efficiency puzzle and raking in record profits per vehicle as a result, Tesla is best positioned to do the same for EV batteries, claim analysts. Its capital expenditures for manufacturing 4680 cells is apparently up to 70% less than those of the leading Korean or even Chinese battery makers.

Title should have been rewritten to Tesla to make UNsafest EV batteries with billions in annual government subsidies.  Nobody can beat CATL Sodium-ion batteries.  I mean how can you expect salt to catch on fire?

Current lithium battery-based vehicles catch fire at a rate only 1/10th that of gasoline vehicles, and a fire spreads much slower to allow more time for passengers to escape. But some people are never satisfied, right?

Happily, the solid-state batteries in pre-production are even less likely to burn even with much higher energy density. Win, win,... win!
