Title: MSI GS73VR 6RF Notebook Review
Post by: Redaktion on August 26, 2016, 10:58:36
Thinnest Pascal yet. This complete chassis overhaul provides GTX 980M-level graphics performance in a smaller, lighter, and cooler package. Fan noise is still a stumbling point for a series that delicately balances between a razer-sharp design philosophy and enthusiast-level GTX GPUs.

Awesome display results, too bad it's TN panel and 1060 does not seem sufficient for 1080p/60hz for very high/ultra settings on modern AAA games. If it had 1070 with IPS 120hz, it would be a killer. With the thin design, 1060 is expected though. GT72VR with 120hz panel should do better for people who don't need the portability.

I guess you can't get the 6820HK in this thinner chassis..... trying to find the lightest weight laptop that can support this processor. After CPU power more than GPU power, in a light package.

Wonder if there are ANY 120HZ IPS screens for laptops yet.

I have this laptop and the disk seems so slow, is this because of the heat or is it a deffect?

the crystalmark for the big hard drive is:

seq: r 74.11 w: 59.40
4k: 0.752 w: 3.237
seq: 73.19 w 75.92
4k: 0.274 w: 3.064

the ssd is like the scores in the benchmark. Could this be heat or is it a deffect hard disk? Or is there a windows setting that could help?

What screen to buy ? Don't want TN panel. 4k looks like the best choice, but have to play always on Full HD and scale in windows... Anyone knows model of the Full HD IPS panel is used in this laptop? Or may be someone have some experience using 17" with 4k ?

What is the battery backup like, under non-gaming normal usage, on the 4K version?

Don't buy it.
Keyboard mark screen after some month (less than 6), screen hinge broke short after. 1 Dead pixel.

First laptop I ever purchased from MSI. Had this laptop for over a year. The left hinge cracked and broke last week making it impossible to open up the display. Contacted MSI and they won't fix it because the warranty has already expired. I rarely took this laptop with me since I don't travel that much. Only used it primarily at home. Very disappointed with MSI quality. Won't bother purchasing another product from them ever!
