The new Dev One is a budget-oriented solution running on the Linux-based Pop!_OS developed by System76. It is powered by AMD's Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U APU with Vega 8 iGPU, and comes with one (upgradable) configuration featuring 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB NVMe SSD. The 1080p 14-inch screen is HDR-ready with 1,000 nit brightness.

This device is just an Elitebook 845 G8 being sold with other name (and a new CPU)

The specs mention a 1000 nits screen, and on the Elitebook, that's the nasty screen with the HP Privacy filter on it.

I would rather have a 500 nit 1920x1200 display than a 1000 nit 1920x1080 display. Incredibly odd choice for a product targeted specifically towards developers.

Didn't know HP ran a charity for Linux "distro makers". Was this 'Make-a-wish' or?..

This seems like great specs that would easily handle my workload as a developer. My concern is that HP laptops don't usually have the nicest displays and they really seemed to go out of their way not to mention many display specs. Will be interesting the see the reviews.

Also, I agree with the comment about the aspect ratio, it is time to move on from "squished" screens, bring on 3:2!

"new cpu"? no it's worst. The Elitebook 845 G8 already has a model with the 5850u, so pretty much the same except the OS lol ;D

Not sure if a laptop with crippled arrows can be used for anything other than web browsing. That "excellently" placed on/off button does not add either for the usefulness.
But hey, DY at least kept the insetr+prnscr button (yep, they are removed in elitebok)

We'll just throw it out there and see what the dogs make of it.
Should've released with FreeDOS ;) and have the developers write their own userspace.
