Not all Type-C ports are the same :

USB 2.0 (primarily smartphones)
USB 3.1 gen 1 (formerly USB 3.0) 5Gbps
USB 3.1 gen 2 10Gbps
Thunderbolt 3 40Gbps (compatible with all of the above)

It is important to confirm in your reporting which features are supported by a products Type-C port.

The ultimate Type-C port is one that features Thunderbolt 3. In a perfect world every upcoming laptop will ship with it now that Kaby Lake natively supports Thunderbolt 3.
