Two steps forward, one step back. The updated MSI GE62 not only involves a new CPU and USB 3.1, but also a superb FHD screen. However, the review sample's power consumption and battery life are not at all typical Skylake.

Hello folks how you are checking existence of PWM?!!! Which brightness level do you check?
The same IPS panel and PWM easily was detected:http://laptopmedia.com/review/acer-aspire-v15-nitro-black-edition-vn7-592g-review-not-a-big-overhaul-but-keeps-whats-good-from-the-previous-version/
So what is going there ?

Im assuming if you used the 970m the score mightve averaged out to maybe 80%-81%

For someone who has upgraded to the GE62 6QD (in which I am using right this second). I am very happy with its performance. I would recommend this notebook to anyone.

I have a GE60 (4700HQ) and a GE62 (6700HQ) and I don't have the excessive power use that you experienced. In fact my GE62 uses less power than my Haswell and idles as low as 15Watts. the Skylake also runs 7deg C cooler at idle.  A Skylake should be cooler and more power efficient than a Haswell laptop.
