Title: Performance Analysis: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU
Post by: Redaktion on January 25, 2022, 15:00:08
While the previous flagship model from Nvidia's Ampere family, the GeForce RTX 3080, was often not powerful enough for the 4K resolution, the new GeForce RTX 3080 Ti might be the first notebook GPU that can handle even the most demanding games with maximum settings.

What about GPU rendering?

Blender Optix ?  probably the most easier to do.

Vray GPU?  Redshift? Fstorm etc?

This is not a fair fight. Yes the XMG has a 165w RTX 3080, but due to thermals and size it doesn't perform nearly as well as other 3080 laptops. My Legion 5i with 11800H + RTX 3070 (flashed w/ 140w vbios) scores 11,450 in Timespy graphics test, beating your XMG with its 165w 3080.

A fair fight would be pitting this MSI against a Legion 7i w/ i9 11980HK and RTX 3080 165w, which scores 13,500 in graphics.

Would like to see an apples to apples comparison, i.e., Intel HK vs Intel HK, and an RTX 3080 laptop that can actually handle a 165w 3080.
