Title: Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Nano ist the lightest ThinkPad you can buy
Post by: Redaktion on February 08, 2021, 12:24:43
The brand-new ThinkPad X1 Nano only tips the scale at little more than 900 grams. But it is not only the lightest ThinkPad, it is also the first model to return to 16:10 panels. However, Lenovo had to make some compromises to realize such a compact device, which is apparent by the limited number of ports and the reduced key travel.

I really expected a 'Nano' to be smaller than that. Light weight is nice, I guess.

This Laptop is obviously designed for the older generation... I mean, the "nano" looks like it was built in 2005...  You would think they would make it look a bit more modern.

I think this is a worthy laptop If you compare this with Asus expertbook b9, you'll see X1 nano has more options with intel evo tiger lake chips that specs up to 1180g7, the battery is 48Wh vs Asus 63Wh, the screen is 2k vs Asus 1k, the Asus has a very noisy fan that almost is always on in standard mode and kicks in even in silent mode. The screen has good ratio vs asus 16:9 ratio. 2 concerns one may have is first; battery life which might be comparable with Asus 1165g7 28w cpu since Intel chips on x1 nano are all maximum 15w but Asus has a giant battery that drains like a broken jar Second; the slow ssd with 2242 size. On western digital website you will find maximum speed of 1700 mps, where on Asus you get above 3k mps ssd speed both for read & write. I passed on these 2 models b/c of combined issues with fan, battery life, ssd speed. If in practice I can't get a substantially faster performance from 1165g7 or 1180g7 cpu vs my surfacebook 2 8650 i7 cpu fanless cpu, why shoul I bother.

Maybe I missed the part where humans have evolved to be much more physically incapable in the last decade? Talk about diminishing returns on these bulimic laptops.
