The April Steam survey is here, and it shows that AMD is still struggling to gain ground over Nvidia in GPU. Among the top 20, there's only one from AMD, which is likely an iGPU, and it holds the 16th position. As for the most popular graphics card, it's the RTX 3060, currently holding a 5.71% share.

It's not surprising to see Nvidia GPU still has more use than AMD GPU. What is surprising is that the GTX 1650 slots between the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti. Heck, the GeForce 40 Desktop is outside the Top 10 and got beaten by the GeForce 40 Laptop. No wonder why there are people who think the new GeForce 40 series is a fail.

For how long

The question is for how long. We already know the upcoming RTX 5060 will be 8gb in vram. People are taking longer and longer to upgrade due to current economic climate and inflation, so it takes time for these numbers to change. Will be interesting to see what these numbers are like in the upcoming years and seeing how they change.

QuoteAs a matter of fact, no AMD GPU has made an entry in the top 10 list, with only one securing a spot in the top 20. Steam survey shows it as an unspecified Radeon Graphics, which suggests that it's likely an iGPU.

Yeah... I also think that "Radeon Graphics" is an iGPU. Unfortunately they don't show which iGPU exactly. The ridiculous thing is, that somewhere even lower on the list there is an additional "Radeon (TM) Graphics", which is most likely also an iGPU.

If Steam doesn't care to write down the specific iGPU model, it should just add all AMD iGPUs together. And the same with all Intel iGPUs. This would put iGPUs some rank upwards...

Radeon Graphics is all AMD's iGPUs, at least that's how Adrenalin reads them so Steam pulls data out of that. So all Vega variants, 660M, 680M, 740M, 780M...

Ok, lets forget for the moment that even a GTX1060 or GTX1650 can run 'most' games @ 720-1080P (generally the more modern the game, the less eye candy/details to get 'acceptable' FPS).

So sure this is a 'notebook' site and for a number of years (AFTER the afore mentioned GPU's were produced) many MEDIUM to HIGH end notebooks are sporting much higher resolution displays.

IMHO: there DOES come a point with every gamer where 'enough is enough' and given the SHOCK FACTOR from the OUTLANDISH GPU card pricing we've all recently lived through which IMHO may of 'broken' many's desire/need to upgrade the desire shifts from running something "maxed out" to being able to run it at all at settings & FPS that is 'acceptable'.

Given all the HYPE that this site (and others) have been giving the AMD <=780M in mobile gaming (which is ALMOST a GTX1650) it is no small wonder there is less attention to the higher cost/performance gear.

Yes George, true, and add on top of that vast majority of modern games are complete garbage in all regards but graphics. Nice visuals won't keep one's interest for too long...

Steam survey is not reliable. To begin with, you must have it Active. Its not active by default here.
