Title: Apple mulling on making iPads in India, reportedly lobbying for increased export incentive budget
Post by: Redaktion on February 23, 2021, 08:32:32
Apple is reportedly planning to shift some of its iPad production to India and is lobbying to increase the budget for the Indian Government's performance-linked incentive (PLI) scheme. This report comes in the wake of the Cupertino-giant plans to offload some of its contract manufacturing to Vietnam and reduce dependence on China due to ongoing US-China trade tensions.

This is a smart move for Apple, will pay a lot in the long run.
With the amount of IP theft going on in China, they are better off manufacturing elsewhere, even if it costs a little more.
But, they should cool down with these lobbying moves. Already, they don't manufacture themselves and use contract companies like Foxconn and Winstron, they shouldn't give so many excuses about a manufacturing ecosystem.
